The Sikkim government on Saturday extended the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown till July 5, which was scheduled to end on June 28.

Amid the second wave of the pandemic, the state has been in partial and complete lockdown since May 6.

As per relaxations announced by the home department on Friday included inter-district travel on an odd-even basis. The state government had earlier permitted intra-district travel.

Meanwhile, night curfew timings have been partially relaxed. Movement of individuals will now be allowed till 10:30 pm from June 28.

Currently, curfew is in force from 9 pm to 5 am every day.

The Himalayan state reported 130 new COVID-19 cases, taking the overall tally to 19,941. As 2 more succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours, the death toll rose to 301.

Sikkim now has 2,170 active cases, while 17,218 people have recovered from the disease.
