Congress does not care about the people of Manipur, said Minister Susindro
Minister for Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Leishangthem Susindro has accused Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi of allegedly trying to split Manipur in two parts.
While Congress is criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not visiting Manipur even once and Rahul Gandhi visited thrice so far, Minister Susindro has accused Rahul Gandhi of visiting the state only to incite violence and create division between the Indigenous Meitei and Indigenous Kuki communities, speaking different messages to each group.
He accused Congress of using deceptive tactics to win state’s Lok Sabha seats — Inner Manipur and Outer Manipur.
Minister Susindro said, “Congress in its manifesto during the poll campaign pledged to address the prevailing unrest in the state and to appoint a Reconciliation Commission to bring about a political and administrative settlement that will be satisfactory to all the people of the state. People of the state then did not understand the true meaning of it and were persuaded to vote for Congress resulting in their victory in both Lok Sabha seats. Moreover, ITLF has submitted a memorandum to Rahul Gandhi during his visit to Churachandpur yesterday demanding separate administration as promised in the Congress manifesto.”

He said, “Congress does not care about the people of Manipur. To gain sympathy, it will portray like it cares, but actually Congress will do anything for votes.”
Susindro also stated that Myanmar-based Kuki armed militants, who had a Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement with the previous Congress government, still in contact with illegal Kuki immigrants. Since the outbreak of violence, the government has tried to communicate with many Kuki MLAs from Churachandpur but has been unsuccessful, as Congress has allegedly pressured the SoO group to sever ties with the state government to push for separate administration.
The state government, with the support of the central government, is working diligently to restore peace and normalcy by implementing measures such as the Inner Line Permit (ILP) System to protect indigenous peoples, scrapping the Free Movement Regime (FMR), constructing border fencing along the Indo-Myanmar border, withdrawing the Suspension of Operations with Myanmar-based armed groups, and requesting the implementation of a full-fledged NRC with a base year of 1951 or 1961.
The Minister appealed to the public not to fall for the Congress’s alleged tactics of violence and division, urging them to recognise the government’s efforts to end the violence by deporting illegal immigrants, implementing the NRC, and enhancing border security.
He emphasized that the government is doing its best to conclude the ongoing turmoil and bring stability to the state.
