Marak resigned from the primary membership of Congress yesterday (January 30) after deciding not to contest the upcoming election and to extend his support to TMC candidate, Rupa Marak.

Besides Marak, 200 supporters from different parties joined Meghalaya TMC today.

They all joined the party in the presence of Rupa M Marak, Meghalaya TMC candidate and Block President Dadenggre, Jengga Jilinga M Marak, District convenor in-charge for Phulbari and Tikrikilla and others.

Dadenggre’s Augustine D. Marak served as a member of the legislature three times, in 2008, 1998, and 1993. He is also the former Minister of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, and Home (Civil Defence and Home Guards) of the Government of Meghalaya.

He then contested the 2018 Assembly elections on a National People’s Party (NPP) ticket from the Tikrikilla constituency.
