Chum Darang Wins Peoples’ Hearts, Finishes 5th on Bigg Boss 18 as Arunachal’s Pride

Actor Chum Darang, widely recognised for her role in Gangubai Kathiawadi, created history on Bigg Boss 18 by becoming the first contestant from Arunachal Pradesh to reach the top 5. Her journey on the show was marked by resilience, cultural pride, and an extraordinary ability to win hearts both inside and outside the house.

Representing Northeast India with grace and positivity, Chum finished in 5th place as the second finalist to be evicted during the grand finale, following Eisha Singh. Known for her sweet personality and strong gameplay, her journey served as a beacon of inspiration for viewers across the nation.

From handling major responsibilities in the house to standing firm during challenges, Chum proved her mettle time and again. Her resilience shone brightly during an emotional confrontation with fellow contestant Shrutika Arjun, where she maintained her composure under intense pressure.

Chum’s meaningful friendships with Shrutika, Digvijay Rathee, Karan Veer Mehra, and Shilpa Shirodkar were another highlight of her journey, showcasing her ability to connect warmly with people. Her playful nature and infectious laughter further endeared her to fans.

A particularly special moment came when Chum proudly showcased her culture, introducing her native traditions to the housemates and viewers. This earned her widespread admiration and reinforced her role as a cultural ambassador for Arunachal Pradesh.

In the final episode, Bigg Boss celebrated Chum’s remarkable journey with an emotional video tribute. Praising her achievements, Bigg Boss remarked, “Sapne dekhna kabhi mat chhodna” (Never stop dreaming). In a heartfelt gesture, he addressed her in her native language, saying, “Not only Arunachal Pradesh but the entire India is proud of you.”

After the finale, Chum shared a heartfelt Instagram post expressing her gratitude for the life-changing experience, calling it a dream come true.

Addressing the media, Chum said, “I am grateful to everyone who supported me on this journey and helped me reach this stage. I thank my friends Karan, Shilpa Ma’am, and Shrutika for their unwavering support.”

She also expressed her appreciation for the encouragement she received from Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju. Chum remarked, “They have always supported the youth and encouraged talent to move forward. I thank them for their extensive support. I hope I did justice to my state.”

Reflecting on her decision to join Bigg Boss 18, Chum had said earlier, “This is a huge platform. I want people to know about me, my work, and my beautiful state, Arunachal Pradesh. If I perform well here, my story will inspire many.”

Her journey lived up to her aspirations. Bigg Boss acknowledged her impact, noting that her participation put Pasighat, her hometown, on the map while earning her love and respect nationwide.
