China’s map provocation: Pasighat West MLA and fmr Arunachal MP Ninong Ering writes to PM Modi

Ninong Ering said that the map is compiled based on the drawing method of national boundaries of China and various countries in the world
Amid the row over the “standard map” of China that claims that the Northeastern state of India, Arunachal Pradesh as part of Chinese territory, Pasighat MLA and Congress leader Ninong Ering, who has been vocal against China’s claims over areas in the frontier state has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed his deep anguish and concern regarding the matter.
Ninong Ering in his letter to PM Modi said that the map is compiled based on the drawing method of national boundaries of China and various countries in the world.
“This unforeseen, unfortunate yet deliberate incident on the part of PRC has invoked deep resentment among the people of Arunachal Pradesh. It is in common knowledge that the PRC has earlier too tried to assert its claim over Arunachal Pradesh by renaming 11 locations in in April 2023, 15 locations in 2021, and 6 places in 2017. This recent release of the “PRC Standard Map” is hence a culmination of PRC’s nefarious plans and a matter especially significant since Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India, and has scarred memories of 1962 Sino-Indian war,” Ninong Ering’s letter read.
He said that he has full faith in PM Modi’s wisdom and the strength of the Indian Army in protecting the LOC and LAC, but he wants to draw the Prime Minister’s attention to the fact that this release of the map should be considered a threat to India’s sovereignty and integrity.
“Being an elected representative of Arunachal Pradesh’s Pasighat-West Seat (which sits right on the India-Tibet border) that I appeal you to discuss this matter of PRC unilaterally making changes in its map with Chinese President Xi Jinping in the upcoming G20 Summit in New Delhi on 9th – 101 September 2023,” Ninong Ering stated in the letter.
He urged the Prime Minister to take the necessary and prompt actions on this matter.
Beijing once again raked up the issue of its territorial claims over Arunachal Pradesh. Releasing the 2023 edition of China’s standard map on Monday, August 28, China Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin as part of its territory.
It may be mentioned that, lodging a strong protest against China, India on Tuesday, August 29 rejected China’s claims and said that they have no basis to claim India’s territory.
The Ministry of External Affairs said that such steps from the Chinese side would only complicate the resolution of the boundary question.
Ministry of External Affairs, Arindam Bagchi said, “We have today lodged a strong protest through diplomatic channels with the Chinese side on the so-called 2023 “standard map” of China that lays claim to India’s territory. We reject these claims as they have no basis. Such steps by the Chinese side only complicate the resolution of the boundary question.”
