The Karnataka High Court has suggested that the Government of India should consider putting an age restriction on the usage of social media platforms.

A two-judge bench made the suggesstion while hearing X Corp’s (previously Twitter’s) appeal against the denial of its request to overturn the blocking order issued by the Centre.

“It will be a boon! When someone registers, they will have to give some sort of identification,” said the bench.

Karnataka High Court said, “Ban social media, and I can assure you that much good will come. Today, school-going children are so addicted to it. According to the Excise rules, in my opinion, there should be an age restriction.”
