Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has assured that the central government is highly sensitive to the ongoing situation in Manipur.

Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has assured that the central government is highly sensitive to the ongoing situation in Manipur and is taking all necessary measures to restore normalcy.

He stated that discussions on Manipur have taken place in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, while Union Home Minister Amit Shah is closely monitoring developments. “I am confident that the situation will definitely improve,” Meghwal asserted.

In a major development, Amit Shah chaired a high-level review meeting on Saturday the first since President’s Rule was imposed in Manipur. During the meeting, he directed authorities to ensure the free movement of vehicles and people on all roads in Manipur from March 8, 2025. He also warned of strict action against anyone obstructing this initiative.

Reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to restoring lasting peace in the state, Shah stressed that the government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, is providing all necessary assistance to bring stability to Manipur. He also ordered the completion of fencing work at all designated entry points along Manipur’s international border at the earliest.

Furthermore, Shah stressed the need to make Manipur drug-free by dismantling the entire network involved in the drug trade. The Union Home Minister’s directives come as part of the government’s broader strategy to bring peace and stability to the violence-hit state.
