Can’t engage with Manipur Govt, have lost faith in it: ITLF

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s bid to step up efforts to reach out to Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), community leaders and stakeholders to restore peace in the state has suffered a setback with the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) refusing to engage in any form with the Manipur Chief Minister.
ITLF said that they have lost faith in the state government and have already placed the demand for separate administration and President’s Rule in Manipur with the Centre.
Speaking to Northeast Live, ITLF spokesperson Ginza Vualzong said, “There cannot be a peace talk with the leadership of Chief Minister N Biren Singh. The ITLF do not have any faith in CM N Biren Singh, nor do we have faith in the state government anymore, so we have already spoken with representative from the Central government. We even met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, shared our grievances and placed our demands before him.”
He said that they have told the Union Home Minister that the total separation of Manipur is the only solution for the tribals or the Kuki-Zos, so they just have to work on it.
ITLF has also placed a demand for President’s Rule in Manipur since the law and order has completely collapsed in the state.
The ITLF’s comments comes within hours of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s clear dictate to CM Singh to reach out to all CSOs and stakeholders in a bid to restore peace and normalcy in the state that has been on the boil since May 3.
Yesterday, June 25, Chief Minister N Biren Singh was summoned to New Delhi by Union Home Minister Shah and during the meeting, Home Minister Shah told CM Singh about what needs to be done to stop violence in Manipur.
