In a significant gesture honouring supreme sacrifice and national service, the Governor-in-Council of Manipur today approved the appointment of Chingakham Naoba Singh as Assistant Sub-Inspector (Civil Police) under the State Home Department on compassionate grounds.
Naoba Singh is the younger brother of Late Constable (CT) Deepak Chingakham, a brave BSF jawan from Yairipok Yambem Mathak Leikai, Imphal East district, who was martyred during “Operation Sindoor” following unprovoked cross-border firing by Pakistani forces in Jammu’s RS Pura sector.
The 25-year-old soldier, serving with the 7th Battalion of the Border Security Force, was critically injured in the firing incident on May 10, 2025, and succumbed to his injuries the following day while undergoing treatment.
Recognising the supreme sacrifice made by Late Deepak Chingakham, the Governor-in-Council today stated that Naoba Singh’s appointment is made on humanitarian and exceptional grounds, reflecting the State’s moral and humanitarian responsibility towards the families of national heroes.
Earlier, honouring the supreme sacrifice of Constable Deepak Chimngakham, Governor Ajay Bhalla has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh for his next of kin.
The appointment stands as a solemn reminder of the price paid by armed forces personnel in defence of the nation and the continuing efforts by the state to support the families left behind.
