The last rites of slain 42-year-old Arunachal NPP MLA Tirong Aboh, his 20-year-old son Longgem Aboh and 8 others would be performed on Thursday in their home town of Dadum in Arunachal Pradesh.

The entire state has plunged into a state of shock and despair in the aftermath of the barbaric killing. The NPP has termed the attack as a political murder. Questions are also being raised if adequate security was being provided to Aboh who had received several threats.

According to police sources and Arunachal NPP leaders, Aboh himself had filed FIRs in the Khonsa West police station mentioning the threat to his life. Several of his supporters too had filed similar FIRs for which Aboh was given four security officers or PSOs. The demand was for escort vehicles too and heightened security given the threat perception.

As per sources, the National Investigation Agency or NIA is likely to take up the investigation. This comes in the backdrop of Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman condemning the barbaric killing and assuring tough action against those responsible.
