Hek said that this is the work of anti-social elements

Meghalaya Cabinet Minister and BJP National Executive member AL Hek today said that no particular political party or organisation can be blamed for the violence that erupted in Tura on July 24, 2023.

Speaking to media, AL Keh said, ” If a person is found to be involved in the violence then the individual should be blamed not any party or organisation they belong to.”

Hek also said that this is the work of anti-social elements.

Turning down the statement of Chief Minister Conrad Sangma that the Tura violence was politically motivated, the senior BJP legislator asked “Did Mamata Banerjee send TMC workers to do this, Did JP Nadda send BJP workers to do this, or even did Conrad Sangma being NPP National President did he sent NPP workers to do this?”

Hek also rejected the idea of putting political affiliation to the accused arrested by police.

On July 24 night, a mob gheraoed Chief Minister Conrad Sangma’s office in Tura, pelted stones and attacked his office while he was inside in a meeting with his cabinet colleague and PHE minister Marcuise N Marak and members of NGOs hearing their demands and grievances in which five police personnel were injured.
Meghalaya DGP LR Bishnoi had said that the attack was pre-planned and was aimed at causing physical damage to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, even go to the extent of murdering him.
So far 47 persons including TMC’s youth leader Richard Marak, and two Mahila Morcha leaders of BJP and NPP worker Jeakson Sangma are among those arrested.
