BJP’s Rinchenpong MLA Karma Sonam Lepcha quits party

Karma Sonam Lepcha has won the Rinchenpong seat for two consecutive terms in 2014 and 2019

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from the Rinchenpong assembly constituency, Karma Sonam Lepcha today resigned from the party ahead of the assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Sikkim.

Two-time MLA Lepcha has submitted his resignation letter to state party president DR Thapa. He, however, did not specify why he quit the party.

Lepcha in his resignation letter wrote, “Sir, Kindly accept this letter as formal notification of my resignation from primary membership of the party from today. I want to take this opportunity to thank you and the entire party for the valuable experience and support provided to me to work for the welfare of Sikkim. Thank you again for everything.”

Karma Sonam Lepcha won the Rinchenpong seat for two consecutive terms in 2014 and 2019.

Voting for the 32-member Sikkim Assembly will be held on April 19 and counting will take place on June 2.
