BJP will continue to work for the development of NE: MP Tapir Gao

BJP MP from Arunachal East Lok Sabha seat Tapir Gao received a grand welcome from BJP workers in Itanagar.

Arunachal East MP Tapir Gao who won the Lok Sabha elections for the third time yesterday, has said that though BJP did not perform up to its expectations in the northeast, the party will continue to work for the development and betterment of northeast.

Gao who managed to win the Arunachal East seat for the second time in a row, also exuded confidence that BJP will form a “100% strong government” at the Centre and PM Narendra Modi will continue to be the Prime Minister.

Gao won the Arunachal East seat first in 2004 and then in 2019 and this year. In 2009 and 2014, Ninong Ering of Congress won the seat. Ering joined BJP this year (2024) and won the Pasighat Assembly for a second time.

Though BJP lost one Lok Sabha seat in Assam and the two seats in Manipur, the party managed to retain its two seats in Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju is the other BJP leader who managed to hold on to his Arunachal West Lok Sabha seat for a fourth time. He won the seat first in 2004 and then in 2014, 2019 and now in 2024.

In 2009, it was Takam Sanjoy of the Congress who had won the Arunachal West Lok Sabha seat.

The Arunachal BJP today organized a reception ceremony for the newly elected MLAs and MPs at the state BJP headquarters in Itanagar.

Gao thanked all the party members and workers for the good performance of the party in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP won 46 of the 60 Assembly seats in the just concluded Assembly elections.

He said, “This is the victory of every BJP worker and double engine government of PM Modi and Pema Khandu. PM Modi will become the Prime Minister again.”
