The BJP has firmly rejected any further division of Tripura, despite persistent demands from its ruling alliance partners, TIPRA Motha and IPFT, for separate tribal states.
Cabinet Minister and government spokesperson Sushanta Chowdhury, speaking to North East Live, asserted that the party strongly opposes the creation of “Greater Tipraland” and “Tipraland,” as demanded by TIPRA Motha and IPFT, respectively.
As the BJP-led government in Tripura approaches the completion of two years in its second term on Saturday, Chowdhury acknowledged the constitutional right of alliance partners to voice such demands. However, he stressed the BJP’s commitment to inclusive development for all communities, particularly the indigenous population, which has faced historical deprivation.
Chowdhury highlighted the government’s achievements, stating that under Chief Minister Manik Saha and the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tripura has eliminated insurgency and is progressing rapidly. He reaffirmed that the state’s development aligns with the vision of Viksit Bharat, ensuring the welfare of all citizens.
