Big Ticket Development on the Cards for Mizoram, CM Meets Several Union Ministers in New Delhi

Mizoram is all set to see significant development as Chief Minister Lalduhoma met 9 top Union Ministers in New Delhi between May 22 and May 28. The meetings focused on boosting infrastructure, creating job opportunities, and strengthening connectivity in the state.

On May 28, CM Lalduhoma met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to discuss road infrastructure in Mizoram. He requested the use of rigid pavement technology and reviewed the progress of NH-52, NH-306A, and NH-502. The Centre has assured that an official team will soon visit Mizoram for further assessment.

Taking to X, the Mizoram Chief Minister’s Office wrote,
“Yesterday, Hon’ble CM Pu @Lal_Duhoma met Hon’ble Union Minister @nitin_gadkariji to discuss road infrastructure in Mizoram.

🔹 Reviewed NH-52, NH-306A & NH-502 projects
🔹 GoI to send official team to Mizoram soon.”

Gadkari also shared on X, “Reviewed the progress of ongoing National Highway projects in Mizoram with Chief Minister Shri @Lal_Duhoma Ji and senior officials in Delhi today.”

A day earlier, on May 27, the CM met Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. They discussed introducing new train services including the Sairang–New Delhi Rajdhani Express, a Sairang–Kolkata Howrah service, and a direct rail link to Tripura. They also talked about upgrading Sairang Station to world-class standards and generating more local employment.

On May 26, CM Lalduhoma held talks with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu. He thanked the Defence Minister for approving the Mizo Territorial Army Battalion, which will start in June 2025 and create job opportunities for the youth. They also discussed declaring key roads in Mizoram as Strategic Highways.

Later, Lalduhoma met Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu to propose a new airport in South Mizoram, heliport development under the PM-UDAN scheme, and the transfer of Lengpui Airport to the Airports Authority of India.

On May 25, he met Union DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and thanked him for selecting Thenzawl as a Global Model Site. They also discussed upgrading the Thenzawl Golf Course to international standards.

On May 24, the CM met Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram. Their discussion covered the expansion of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS), recruitment of local staff, and establishing de-addiction centres in the state.

On May 23, Lalduhoma met Home Minister Amit Shah, who praised Mizoram as one of India’s most peaceful states. They discussed various key issues including the Bana Kaih Scheme, Lengpui Airport development, depreciated infrastructure costs on Assam Rifles land, a refugee portal, and the Mizo Territorial Army.

The same day, the CM also met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil. Discussions with Sitharaman focused on financial support for Mizoram, while talks with Patil covered water-related projects crucial to the state’s development.

On May 22, shortly after arriving in Delhi, CM Lalduhoma met Union Minister of State for Education and DoNER, Sukanta Majumdar. The meeting covered educational development and special focus on the Northeast.

This series of high-level meetings reflects Mizoram’s strong push under Lalduhoma’s leadership to improve infrastructure, create jobs, and bring lasting development to the state.
