Big day for Northeast: 20 from region cracks UPSC 2022

6 from Assam, 4 from Nagaland, 3 from Arunachal Pradesh, 4 from Manipur and one each from Sikkim and Meghalaya cleared the Civil Service exams

A happy and momentous day for Northeast India. As many as 20 candidates from the region cleared the much sought after and prestigious UPSC exams 2022. Last year, nine candidates from the region had clear the Civil Service exams.

Assam’s Mayur Hazarika, a doctor by profession, occupied the 5th position among the 933 candidates from across India who had cleared the exams. He is currently working at a government hospital in Jakhalabandha in Nagaon. Mayur is an alumni of Don Bosco High School, Tezpur. He did his MBBS from Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.

“I did self-study. I did join some online classes too. I hope that more students from Assam come forward, take the exams and crack,” Mayur said adding “I would be happy to serve in whatever service I get. Assam will always be in my heart”.

Besides, Mayur Hazarika, the other candidates who brought glory to the state are Idul Ahmed, Anjali Bhardwaj, Nivedita Das, Diksha Langthasa and Manas Jyoti Das. Idul Ahmed secured 298th position, Manas Jyoti secured 881, Nivedita Das secured 848th position, Anjali Bhardwaj secured 271st position, and Diksha Langthasa secured 664th position.

Diksha, 26, hails from Haflong and is the grand-daughter of former chief executive member (CEM) of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) Late Sam Chand Hojai. She did her schooling in Bengaluru. She graduated from Delhi University and did her post graduation in Economics from JNU.
She had cleared Civils in 2018 and got 708th position. This time her position improved to 664th. She is currently working as Assistant Controller of Accounts, Ministry of Home Affairs, Delhi.

Four candidates from Nagaland – Yimkum Ozukum ranked 203, Vevotolu Kezo ranked 387, Imkongnukla Ao ranked 723 and Aotula Ozukum ranked 874 were among the successful candidates.

The three candidates from Arunachal Pradesh who cleared the exams are — Pebika Lego securing 290th position, Tenzin Yangki secured 545th position and Austin Tayeng secured 747th position. One each from Meghalaya, Sikkim and Tripura also made the cut.

Deepika Agarwal from Sikkim secured 151st position making it to Indian Police Service. She did her Class 10 from Tashi Namgyal Academy, Class 12 from Mayo College, Ajmer. She did her graduation from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University and MBA from Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.

Swapnil Bhattacharjya from Meghalaya secured 344th rank while Sumit Paul from Tripura secured 627 rank.

The four candidates from Manipur who are among the successful candidates are – Arvind Hanglem (83rd position), Soilemthang Vaiphai (619th position), Chiinzoukim Tungnung (704th position) and Lourembam Nelson Mangangcha (915th position).

The top four slots were occupied by four girls – Ishita Kishore, all India rank 1, Garima Lohia secured the second rank, Uma Harathin N secured the third spot and Smriti Mishra secured the fourth rank.

The results of the UPSC Civil Services (Mains) Examination 2022 were released today.
