The Parishad announced Sarvesh Saharia as the new Chairman for the 2025–2027 session.

The Bharatiya Cha Parishad has called for a united and holistic approach to revive Assam’s tea industry. During its annual general conference held in Dibrugarh, former Union Minister and President of the Asom Chah Mazdoor Sangha, Paban Singh Ghatowar, urged the government, industry players, and workers to come together to restore the past glory of Assam tea.

Ghatowar highlighted the legacy of the industry established by the British two centuries ago and stressed that Assam tea can once again dominate global markets if all stakeholders join hands and act with urgency.

Industry experts and stakeholders present at the conference echoed his concerns. Former Tea Board of India Chairman, Prabhat Bezbaruah, stressed that quality must be the cornerstone for the tea industry’s survival and growth. He also urged the Centre to take a more sympathetic and proactive role in supporting the sector.

Tea veteran and industrialist Manoj Jalan advocated for the use of modern technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve production, increase efficiency, and strengthen the future of Assam’s labour-intensive tea industry.

The Parishad announced Sarvesh Saharia as the new Chairman for the 2025–2027 session, signalling a fresh phase of leadership and commitment to the industry’s progress.
