Bangladesh Will Need 14 Rebirths…Nobody has Guts: Assam CM on Chicken’s Neck Threat

And before even dreaming of touching the Chicken’s Neck, they should not forget that India is a powerful country: CM Sarma

In a sharp rebuttal to provocative remarks made by a Bangladeshi individual suggesting an attack on India’s strategically vital Siliguri Corridor, commonly known as the ‘Chicken’s Neck’, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that nobody has the guts to attack Chicken’s Neck.

Addressing the media, CM Sarma said that Bangladesh would have to be reborn 14 times before it can even think of touching anything in India.

“Bangladesh would need to be born at least 14 times before it can even think of attacking anything in India. And before even dreaming of touching the Chicken’s Neck, they should not forget that India is a powerful country, which was proven by Operation Sindoor,” said CM Sarma.

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “If they dare attack our only Chicken’s Neck, we will strike their two Chicken’s Necks and take over Chittagong. It’s high time someone starts showing maps with Chittagong as part of India.”

It may be mentioned here that earlier in March this year, Mohammad Yunus, the chief advisor to Bangladesh’s interim government, referred to India’s Northeast as “landlocked,” sparking concerns in New Delhi over the security of Chicken’s Neck.

Yunus had also invited China’s Beijing to expand its economic influence in Bangladesh, controversially suggesting that the landlocked nature of India’s northeastern states could present an opportunity a remark that drew sharp reactions from Indian strategic analysts.

The Siliguri Corridor, often referred to as the ‘Chicken’s Neck’, is a narrow yet strategically crucial land strip in West Bengal that connects India’s 8 northeastern states- Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura and the rest of the country.

Bordering Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh and in close proximity to China’s Tibet region, the corridor is considered a sensitive geopolitical zone. A threat to this region could severely disrupt connectivity and national integration.

The Corridor is home to critical infrastructure including railway lines, oil pipelines, and highways that sustain not just the economy of the Northeast but contribute significantly to the national framework.

Security experts have long warned that any disruption in the area especially from a hostile neighbouring force could have cascading impacts on national security.

The corridor is also close to Doklam, the site of a tense 72-day military standoff between India and China in 2017.
