Australian Consul General Meets Sikkim Governor: Boylan informed the that Australia is a partner country in the ongoing Kuzu Cultural Festival

The Australian Consul General in Kolkata, Hugh Boylan accompanied by Anagha, Senior Economic Research Officer, called on Governor of Sikkim, Om Prakash Mathur at Raj Bhavan yesterday evening. The meeting centred around strengthening ties between Australia and Sikkim across various sectors, including education, trade, sports, renewable energy, and cultural exchange.

Both dignitaries expressed a shared interest in fostering collaboration in renewable energy and eco-tourism areas identified as promising for joint initiatives. They also explored ways to promote sustainable tourism by exchanging best practices and enhancing mutual learning.

Boylan informed the Governor that Australia is a partner country in the ongoing Kuzu Cultural Festival, which commemorates Sikkim’s 50th year of statehood. He lauded the state’s breathtaking natural beauty and cultural richness and conveyed a strong intent to deepen people-to-people connections between Australia and Sikkim.

During the interaction, Governor Mathur highlighted Sikkim’s strides in education and tourism, as well as its distinctive identity as India’s only fully organic state. He underscored the state’s continued development and prosperity.

The Governor welcomed the strengthening ties between Sikkim and Australia and appreciated the growing friendship between the two nations. He conveyed his best wishes to Mr Boylan for his future initiatives and hoped for enhanced bilateral cooperation in the years to come.
