AU Student Detained for Offensive Remarks on Pahalgam Killings; FIR Filed After Campus Outrage

His comments triggered outrage among fellow students, creating a tense atmosphere on the Assam University campus and across Silchar.

Authorities have detained a student from the Department of Computer Science at Assam University after he allegedly posted derogatory and objectionable remarks on social media regarding the recent killings of innocent civilians in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

The student, identified as AK Bahauddin Choudhary, reportedly made statements that defamed both society and the government while expressing insensitive views on the tragic incident.

His comments triggered outrage among fellow students, creating a tense atmosphere on the Assam University campus and across Silchar. In response to the uproar, students filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Assam University Outpost on April 24.

Acting promptly, police detained Choudhary for questioning. Authorities confirmed that he is currently under interrogation and assured that a thorough investigation is underway to address the matter. Officials have urged students to remain calm while the inquiry continues.
