ATSUM suspends economic blockade in hill districts over ADC Bill row

The All Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM) yesterday decided to suspend the ongoing economic blockade along the National highways in hill districts.
The decision was taken during the emergency meeting of ATSUM and its federating units at Kangpokpi districts yesterday.
The apex tribal student body of Manipur made the announcement to temporarily suspend the economic blockade right after the meeting.
The ATSUM said that it was lifting the economic blockade on humanitarian grounds.
The ATSUM, however, added that it will continue democratic agitation to push for its demand for tabling the Hill Areas Committee, Autonomous Council Bill 2021.
The ATSUM also asked the Hill Areas Committee to clear its stand on ADC bill 2021 which the latter had recommended.
Earlier yesterday, Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh exuded confidence that the crisis over the ADC bill 2021 will be resolved.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh, while talking exclusively to Northeast Live said that Tribal Affairs Minister Letpao Haokip and Hill Areas Committee Chairman Dinganglung Gangmei are discussing the matter and a solution will arrive soon.
