Suspended Darrang SP Rajmohan Roy, who has been accused in connection with the sensational death of a minor girl in Dhekiajuli, surrendered before the police yesterday evening. Along with SP Rajmohan Roy, magistrate Ashirbad Hazarika also turned himself in to police.
Both Roy and Hazarika had been absconding after it was found that they had tampered with the probe into the death of the minor girl.

Both Roy and Hazarika were brought to the CID office in Guwahati, where they were detained and grilled till late last night. SP Rajmohan Roy had taken a bribe of Rs 2 lakh to mislead the investigation into the case.
On the other hand, magistrate Ashirbad Hazarika had prepared a postmortem report on the victim without even visiting the scene of the crime and had tampered with it.
Meanwhile, also arrested in this case have been Darrang ASP Rupam Phukan, Dhula police station officer-in-charge Utpal Bora, and three doctors of the Mangaldoi Civil Hospital.
