Assam: Rs 6 Crore Heroin Seized, 3 Peddlers Arrested

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma took to X to commend the Assam Police for their efforts in cracking down on drug trade.
Assam Police seized 870 gram of heroin worth around Rs 6 crore and arrested three drug peddlers in Sribhumi district, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
The heroin was recovered during an anti-narcotics operation in Lalpool area of Nilambazar, CM Sharma said on Monday.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma took to X to commend the Assam Police for their efforts in cracking down on drug trade.
He wrote, ”Acting on credible intel, @sribhumipolice conducted an anti-narcotics operation in Lalpool, Nilambazar. 870 g of suspected heroin worth Rs 6 crore was seized; 3 peddlers arrested.”
On May 25, the Assam Police seized drugs worth over Rs 11.5 crore in two separate operations in Karbi Anglong and Cachar districts.
Cachar Police apprehended one person, Ikbal Hussain Mazumder, and recovered 84 grams of heroin of an undisclosed amount from his possession in Silchar.
In the other incident, Karbi Anglong district police intercepted a vehicle at Khatkhati checkpost and seized 4.899 kg of Morphine worth Rs 5 crore. One drug peddler was arrested.
The Assam Police’s efforts to curb the drug trade in the state have yielded significant results, with the seizure of drugs worth crores of rupees. The operations demonstrate the state’s commitment to tackling the menace of drug trafficking.
