Assam Police Arrests 68 for Pro-Pakistan Posts Amid Crackdown on Anti-National Elements

Assam Police have arrested three more individuals for allegedly making pro-Pakistan posts on social media, bringing the total number of arrests to 68. Abdul Hussain and Rosid Ahmed were taken into custody by the Sribhumipolice, while Azad Imran Hussain was arrested by the Barpeta Police on Sunday.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, taking a firm stance, stated on X, “NOBODY WILL BE SPARED.”

On Saturday, Joynal Abedin was also detained in the Gossaigaon area for similar charges, adding to the growing list of arrests aimed at maintaining communal harmony in the state.

The crackdown comes in the wake of Operation Sindoor and recent tensions involving Pakistan. Assam Police have been closely monitoring online activities to curb seditious content and preserve public order.

Earlier, AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam faced arrest on sedition charges for allegedly “defending” Pakistan in connection with the Pahalgam attack. Although he secured bail, he was later detained under the stringent National Security Act.
