Assam Genitals Amputated: The victim, Atikur Rahman from Jiribam district, had visited the RE Hospital for treatment of a genital infection.

What happens when a place meant to heal becomes a source of lifelong trauma? In a deeply disturbing case from RE Hospital, a private facility in Silchar, has triggered shock and outrage, as a patient from Manipur alleged that his genital organ was amputated under the guise of a biopsy.

The victim, Atikur Rahman from Jiribam district, had visited the RE Hospital for treatment of a genital infection. Under the supervision of Dr Eden Sinha, he underwent several tests and was advised to undergo a biopsy.

However, Rahman alleges that he was taken into the operation theatre without being informed of any major surgery. To his horror, his genital organ was amputated without his knowledge or consent.

Initially unaware of what had occurred due to the post-surgery dressing, Rahman only realised the extent of the procedure later. When he sought answers, hospital authorities allegedly denied him access to the doctor. Left with no choice, he approached the Ghungoor Police Outpost and filed a formal complaint.

Dr Eden Sinha has since been booked, and a police investigation is underway.

How could such a life-altering procedure be carried out without consent? Who is accountable for this alleged violation of patient rights? The incident has not only shattered a life but also raised pressing questions.
