Assam: Former BPF Vice President Kampa Borgoyari to Join UPPL Tomorrow

First Published: 7th February, 2025 12:47 IST

He said, 'When there is no collective decision, it becomes difficult to implement good policies for the interests of the people."

Days after stepping down as the vice president of the Hagrama Mohilary-led Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), Kampa Borgoyari is now all set to join the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) ahead of the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections.

Borgoyari will join the UPPL tomorrow at an event in Taikajora, Chirang, under the 14 no. Council Constituency of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

Borgoyari, a key political figure in Bodoland, cited a lack of understanding and collective decision-making within BPF as the primary reason for his exit.

Speaking to media, he expressed his frustration over the party’s internal dysfunction, which, according to him, made it difficult to implement policies in the best interests of the people.

“There is a lack of understanding in BPF. There is no collective opinion in the party, and when there is no collective decision, it becomes difficult to implement good policies for the interests of the people,” Borgoyari stated emphasising the internal challenges he faced within BPF.

He further justified his move by asserting that UPPL provides a better platform to work for the people.

“I have realised that UPPL provides a better scope to serve the people. It is time for me to be in a party where I can contribute more,” he added.

Borgoyari’s shift to UPPL comes at a crucial time, with BTC elections on the horizon. His move is expected to reshape political equations in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and strengthen UPPL’s position against its rivals.
