The father was on his way to drop his daughter at school in Bahalpur.

The incident has sparked tension in the region, with locals blocking the highway to stage a protest.

As per inputs, the two passenger buses were engaged in a dangerous race, speeding recklessly in the early morning hours. One of the buses attempted to overtake the other and collided with the motorcycle coming from the opposite direction, leading to the fatal crash.

They demanded strict road safety measures, including better traffic vigilance and the installation of road signs to prevent such accidents. Arriving on the scene, Bongaigaon DC Nabadeep Pathak confirmed that reckless driving and excessive speeding were the causes of the collision. It appears that two busses were in a competition and were both exceeding the speed limit.”

“The people have said that despite the presence of speed breakers, vehicles rarely slow down. To stop it, the people have called for rumble strips, appropriate signage, and other actions. It will need to be reviewed. It is clear that this kind of excessive speeding occurs in the early morning hours, and we will take action to prevent it from happening again,” he added.

Meanwhile, SP Mohan Lal Meena said that while regular naka checkings are done. He said,” We will intensify naka checking by deploying additional enforcement and police teams.”
