Assam CM Meets Civil Aviation Minister: Some key takeaways of the crucial meeting were the work for Silchar’s green field airport.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today met Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu in New Delhi and discussed a series of issues ranging from expanding the air connectivity in Assam to upgrading airports and construction of green field airports in the state.
Sharing details of his meeting on X, Chief Minister Sarma stated that it was an excellent meeting with the Minister for Civil Aviation where they spoke at length on expanding air connectivity and infrastructure in the North East.
Some key takeaways of the crucial meeting were the work for Silchar’s green field airport which is likely to begin this year.
On the other hand, Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu assured Chief Minister Sarma that the crucial Rupsi airport in Dhubri will be expanded as well.
To boost the air connectivity in the state, it was also discussed that Jorhat, Dibrugarh and Silchar will soon be accessible to more Indian cities with new flight connections.
Minister Naidu and CM Sarma also deliberated on trying and getting more first-time fliers as there is a plan to revisit Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik or UDAN scheme in the region, by making it more effective, vibrant and sustainable so that every person can fly.
