Assam: Circle Officer Drags IAS Officer to Court; 2 Women Officers To Fight It Out

Circle officer Sarma has accused DC Deka of mental harassment, public humiliation, and intimidation while she was on election duty.

It is a tussle between two women officers of Assam. It’s a Circle Officer Versus an IAS officer posted in Nalbari.

Seven months after being accused of harassing a Circle Officer (CO) in the West Nalbari region during Lok Sabha election duty, an FIR has been filed against the IAS officer, Deputy Commissioner of Nalbari, Varnali Deka following orders from the Nalbari Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court.

The incident dates back to May 7 when Lok Sabha elections were being held. Circle officer Aparna Sarma and DC Deka were on election duty and were in the strong room when an argument took place between the two at night.

Immediately that night at around 2 AM, Circle officer Sarma reached the Nalbari police station and filed a complaint against DC Deka but they refused to file an FIR.

In the meanwhile, Circle Officer Sarma was suspended for alleged negligence at work and dereliction of election duty. Sarma finally approached the CJM court and after seven months of the incident police filed the FIR under section 294/506/511 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita.

Circle officer Sarma has accused DC Deka of mental harassment, public humiliation, and intimidation while she was on election duty.
