The naming of electronics and technology park at Jagiroad after Ratan Tata is Assam’s humble way of saying thank you to the visionary leader.
As a mark of respect and gratitude for the immeasurable contribution to Assam and to honour the legacy, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday announced that the state government has decided to name the upcoming Electronics and Tech City in Jagiroad after the titan of Indian industry, Ratan Tata.
“In recognition of the unparallel contribution of the Tata Group and its Chairman Emeritus Late Shri Ratan Naval Tata, the first Assam Baibhav awardee himself, the state cabinet has approved the naming of the entire area covered by the Assam Semiconductor and Electronics Logistic Park, Tata OSAT Centre and proposed township with the social infrastructure, as Ratan Tata Electronics City, Jagiroad,” CM Sarma said addressing the media after the Cabinet meeting.
It was Tata Group’s courageous decision to set up the semiconductor plant in Assam that has given confidence to others to consider Assam as an investment destination. The response that Advantage Assam 2.0 got was a result of the Tatas setting up the semiconductor plant here, the Assam CM said.
Ratan Tata made significant contributions to the health sector of Assam. It was in 2018 that under his initiative, a joint venture between the Tata Trust and the Government of Assam was launched and 19 cancer hospitals are being set up in Assam in a phased manner. Under this, in 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated seven state-of-the-art cancer hospitals in Dibrugarh, Barpeta, Tezpur, Jorhat, Darrang, Kokrajhar and Lakhimpur in the presence of Ratan Tata. Besides that foundation stone of seven other cancer hospitals to be built in Goalpara, Sivasagar, Dhubri, Nagaon, Golaghat, Tinsukia and Nalbari was also laid.
On May 3, 2022, Tata Technologies in collaboration with the Government of Assam signed an agreement to promote technical education. This too happened because of Ratan Tata. Engineering and Product Development Digital Services Company Tata Technologies signed the MoU with the Government of Assam to transform 34 Polytechnics and 43 Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Assam into centres of excellence.
The naming of the electronics and technology park at Jagiroad after Ratan Tata is Assam’s humble way of saying thank you to the visionary leader whose love for Assam and it’s people and his projects for the state will go a long way in shaping the future of the state’s youth.
