Assam Cabinet Approves Rs 75 Cr AMUL Milk Plant in Rani, Rs 450 Cr for Two Luxury Hotels

Assam AMUL Milk Plant: The plant will be built on 20 bighas of leased land at the Institute of Farm Management Campus.
The Assam government has approved a series of major infrastructure initiatives aimed at boosting the state’s dairy and tourism sectors. The decisions were announced after a cabinet meeting held today at Lok Sewa Bhawan.
Cabinet Ministers Ranoj Pegu and Ranjit Das stated that the state is intensifying efforts to improve milk production. A key highlight is the approval for a state-of-the-art milk processing facility to be set up by Amul at Rani, near Guwahati.
The plant will be built on 20 bighas of leased land at the Institute of Farm Management Campus. With an initial capacity of one lakh litres per day, the plant will come up with an initial investment of Rs 75 crore. The investment will go up to Rs 150 crore in phases.
The facility, part of the Advantage Assam 2.0 MoU, is expected to benefit around 20,000 dairy farmers across the state.
Additionally, in order to boost tourism and hospitality, the Cabinet also approved two five-star hotel projects in Guwahati.
Jonali Construction Private Limited will invest Rs 335.25 crore to build a luxury hotel, which is expected to create 800 jobs—400 direct and 400 indirect.
Downtown Hospital Limited will develop a Courtyard by Marriott hotel with an investment of Rs 122.73 crore, expected to employ around 200 people.
These developments mark a significant stride in Assam’s infrastructure growth and employment generation, the ministers said.
