At an age when children should be playing, learning, and making friends, why are they becoming emotionally dependent on gadgets like TVs and phones? In a deeply disturbing incident from Assam’s Jorhat, an 11-year-old boy reportedly ended his life after his family sold their television.
The victim has been identified as Ahem Tanti. The incident took place at a rented house on Jail Road.
Ahem, a sixth-grade student of Barbheta School, was alone at home when his mother and elder brother went to work and his elder brother stepped out. When they returned, they found him dead.
How could such a young child see no hope beyond a television set? Are we, as a society, unknowingly pushing our children toward emotional isolation? Is it the fault of parenting, or is technology reshaping childrens in dangerous ways? These are questions we must ask before another innocent life is lost.
