Arunachal’s Yaman Bunyi wins silver, Meta Pao wins bronze at 3rd Northeast Games in Nagaland

Arunachal Pradesh won two medals on the opening day of the 3rd Northeast Games in Nagaland yesterday.
Yaman Bunyi has clinched the silver medal in the discus throw, with a throw of 27.51 metres, while Meta Pao has won a bronze medal in the Pencak Silat event. She won the medal in the senior women’s below 45 kg category.
Taking to X, Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated Bunyi and Pao. He praised them saying they are an inspiration and motivation for many aspiring sportspersons in the state.
“Congratulations to Ms Yaman Bunyi of Arunachal Pradesh on clinching Silvermedal in the Women’s Discus throw at the #NortheastGames in Nagaland with an impressive throw of 27.51 meters.Your dedication and hard work have paid off! Keep excelling. You are an inspiration for many,” CM Khandu posted on X.
“Applause for Ms Meta Pao of our State, as she clinched Bronzein the Pencak Silat event in the #NortheastGames! A medal win for Arunachal Pradesh is motivation for many aspiring sportspersons. Keep up the winning streak!,” wrote CM Khandu on X.
The 3rd North East Games 2024 was kicked off at Regional Centre for Sporting Excellence, Sovima in Nagaland yesterday.
As per reports, over 3000 athletes from 8 northeastern states will compete in 15 disciplines being held in 12 venues across three districts–Kohima, Chumoukedima and Dimapur.
