Arunachal Pradesh Doctors’ Association Strike for Two Days, Demand Immediate Transfer of Health Officials

First Published: 21st February, 2025 18:01 IST

The association demands their immediate transfer, citing inefficiency in their roles, particularly regarding the non-upgradation of posts

Nearly 900 doctors of the Arunachal Pradesh Doctors’ Association (APDA) have commenced a two-day mass casual leave, today and tomorrow across all districts to protest against Health Commissioner Pawan Kumar and Health Secretary Ira Singhal.

The association demands their immediate transfer, citing inefficiency in their roles, particularly regarding the non-upgradation of posts in the state’s healthcare system.

Additionally, the association highlights concerns over inadequate compensation for ASHA workers, stressing that these issues are affecting the overall quality of healthcare in the state.

While the strike is in effect, emergency services remain operational to ensure that critical care and immediate medical needs are met. However, non-emergency surgeries and routine medical procedures have been put on hold until further notice.

The APDA asserts that the ineffective implementation of policies by the Health Commissioner and Secretary is obstructing the state’s health minister from delivering essential healthcare services.

The protest underscores the ongoing struggle to improve healthcare facilities, ensure fair treatment for health workers, and create a more efficient system for both medical professionals and patients.
