Arunachal Pradesh: Assam Rifles gun down 3 NSCN-KYA cadres in Longding

Three suspected militants of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-KYA) were killed in an encounter by the Assam Rifles at Arunachal Pradesh’s Longding District. Two of the NSCN-KYA militant were injured in the ambush.
The ambush took place at around 8:20 A.M, today morning.

The heavily armed NSCN-KYA miilliants were travelling towards the Myanmar border abducting the Chief of Lahu Village (Tirap District) on November 14. Reportedly they had asked for a hefty ransom for the safe release of the village chief and other civilians captured by them.

After receiving the news, Assam Rifles placed multiple ambush points to intercept the rebels. When the NSCN-KYA group reached one of them firing ensued between both sides. Three of the NSCN-KYA militants were killed while two others were injured.
Sources are yet to ascertain the identity of the militants killed in the encounter but their affiliation with the terror outfit NSCN-KYA has been confirmed.

As per the latest inputs hunt for the remaining militants is on. The NSCN cadres are active in North East India. The state of Nagaland and the Naga-populated hill districts of Manipur are the key places where the organization has a considerable presence and influence. It is also widely known that it exists in the neighboring states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh
