Arunachal observes Reh festival, CM Khandu extends greetings

The Reh festival of Arunachal Pradesh is celebrated by the Idy Mishimi who believe they are the children of the divine mother ‘Nanyi Inyitaya’.

They offer puja to seek blessings and keep alive the bond of brotherhood and social feeling strong.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu extends his greetings on the occasion of the Reh festival.
“May Divine ‘Ini Mashelo Zinu’ shower its love, compassion & blessings on us. Heartiest greetings to Idu Mishmi brothers & sisters on the auspicious Reh Festival. May the joyous occasion further strengthen our bonding and bring prosperity, peace, and happiness.”, tweets CM Khandu.

The first day of the festival is called ‘Andropu’. While offering prayer to god, the mithuns are brought and tied near the house. During the night a dance ceremony is held called ‘Naya’. Eyanli is the second day and may be termed as the killing day of animals such as mithuns and buffaloes. The third day is called ‘Iyili’ and on this day a heavy feast is arranged and everybody is entertained. The fifth day is called Aru-Go and the sixth day is called ‘Etoanu’.
The ‘Tayi’ is a form of calendar that is served to all kith and kin as an invitation to come to the celebration on scheduled dates. The ‘Tayi’ is counted by knots on a string and each knot is cut off as a night passes on, one after another. The invited kith and kin arrive at the place of celebration when two knots remain on the string.
