In a shocking incident being reported from Arunachal Pradesh, sitting National People’s Party (NPP) MLA from Khonsa West in Tirap district, Tirong Aboh was shot dead by suspected NSCN militants near Bogapani village of Tirap district.
Ten others, including family members of Aboh are believed to have been killed in the ambush by suspected Naga insurgents. The MLA was himself on the front seat where he was shot at seemingly from a close distance.
The deceased MLA was in his newly purchased Fortuner SUV when the suspected gunmen opened indiscriminate firing killing 11 people of the 12 who were travelling in the three vehicle convoy.
Police have confirmed that the incident took place between 12:30 and 1 PM on Tuesday. Those killed include NPP workers and close family of Aboh. The one critically injured is taken to Dibrugarh in Assam for treatment.

Meghalaya Chief Minister and NPP president Conrad K Sangma condemned the brutal attack. Taking to Twitter, Sangma expressed shock and sadness at the death of Tirap MLA Tirong Aboh and his family; urges Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene.
The NPP strongly condemns the brutal attack on Shri Tirong Aboh and his family and his security personnels.

Meanwhile, MoS Kiren Rijiju also condemned the tragic killing of Arunachal MLA Tirong Aboh and assured to take strongest possible action against those responsible.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu condemning the barbaric attack took to Twitter saying, “Extremely shocked by the unfortunate killing of Khonsa MLA Tirong Aboh along with several others by insurgents. Strongly condemn this barbarous act. Action will be initiated to hunt down the perpetrators.”
