The inauguration marked the beginning of a month-long series of events to commemorate five decades of Arunachal’s legislative journey, from its humble start as a Provisional Assembly in 1975 to its present status as a full-fledged 60-member democratic institution.

In his address, Governor Parnaik described the Assembly as an important pillar of democracy. He urged all legislators to remain committed to the values of integrity, public service, and inclusive governance, which are essential for a vibrant democracy.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, and Speaker Tesam Pongte also addressed the gathering. They reflected on the Assembly’s historic role in shaping the political identity of modern Arunachal Pradesh and paid heartfelt tributes to former legislators who laid the foundation of the state’s governance system.

The Golden Jubilee celebrations, which began today, will continue till August 18. The Assembly has planned a variety of events, including cultural performances, exhibitions, seminars, and special felicitation programmes to honour former Speakers and legislators.

As the Assembly celebrates 50 years of democratic progress, the grand event aims to honour the contributions of the past, celebrate the achievements of the present, and inspire future generations towards responsible and inclusive governance in Arunachal Pradesh.
