APTUF has also threatened to launch a democratic movement in the Itanagar capital region, if the government fails to address their concerns within the given timeframe
The Arunachal Pradesh Trade Union Federation (APTUF), disappointed with the state government’s lack of response to their long-pending charter of demands, served the government a 14-day ultimatum today to address their concerns.
APTUF has also threatened to launch a democratic movement in the Itanagar capital region, if the government fails to address their concerns with the given timeframe.
The APTUF has been demanding that Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board Chairman be appointed from amongst the Trade Union leaders.
The Federation’s other demands include wages of casual or contingency staff to be increased by Rs 3,000, grade pay of the WC workers in the engineering departments to be increased from existing Rs 1,900 to 2,400, creation of one-time post for WC workers – those who are working for the past 20 to 30 years should be appointed through DPC on merit or seniority basis, and contingency staff who are serving for 15 years, reservation against appointment of elected leader or non-trade union leader in labour board, implementation of statutory benefits for the registered workers in labour board, and immediate removal of APEDA chairman, among other things.
The trade unions also alleged rampant corruption in the name of distributing labour welfare items. They have armed themselves with RTI information to support their claims.
Earlier, on September 22, APTUF had demanded the immediate removal of Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (APEDA) Chairperson, Mopi Mihu from his post, alleging that he had terminated the services of 47 contingency workers.
