The Arunachal Pradesh government has agreed to release all those detained during the 36-hour bandh call in the Itanagar Capital Region by the All Nyishi Youth Association. However, further probe
The Arunachal Pradesh government has agreed to release all those detained during the 36-hour bandh call in the Itanagar Capital Region by the All Nyishi Youth Association. However, further probe will be carried out against anyone involved in criminal conspiracy. This was informed by the Nyishi Elite Society which held hectic parleys with government representatives seeking the release of all those detained by the state police during the bandh.
Meanwhile, in a fresh statement, the president of the Nyishi Elite Society, Bengia Tolum appealed to ANYA to call off the proposed 48-hour bandh from January 18th as the government has agreed to its demand for the release of detained members. Tolum pleaded that going ahead with the bandh may lead to loss of life and property and hence for the interest of the public, the same should be called off. Tolum also said that the ANYA should sit across the table with the government and resolve the impasse.
It may be mentioned that the Itanagar Capital Region is bracing for another bandh, this time for a period of 48 hours called by the All Nyishi Youth Association which has made direct allegations of corruption against Chief Minister Pema Khandu from January 18.
Apprehensions are high as the capital region area gears up for the bandh which the district administration has termed illegal once again. The fresh bandh call comes at a time when there is a crackdown on ANYA members and supporters, over 100 of whom have been arrested or detained during the 36-hour bandh called by the organisation from January 13-14. Also, the fresh bandh comes at a time when the state police have accused the ANYA of hatching a conspiracy through the bandh to destabilise the Pema Khandu government.
