“Win or lose does not matter, I played a very fair game, I worked very hard,” said Ampareen Lyngdoh

With less than a month left for the announcement of the Lok Sabha election results, National People’s Party (NPP) candidate from the Shillong parliamentary constituency Ampareen Lyngdoh today said that any party might win the race for the prestigious seat.

“I don’t even one political party can say for sure that they are winning. At least for the Shillong seat the guess is on. Anybody could win, it could be anybody’s game,” Ampareen Lyngdoh said.

Whatever be the consequence, Ampareen Lyngdoh who is also a minister in the Conrad Sangma cabinet, feels that her visit to different parts of the Shillong constituency helped her know more about people’s issues and this will help her party a great deal in addressing those issues.

Lyngdoh said, “Win or lose does not matter, I played a very fair game, I worked very hard, I went to places, I collected information and all of these is going to be important for the party because we need to ensure that party listens to the voice of the people and that is what we are going to do from here forward.”

Earlier, during an interview with Northeast Live, Congress candidate and incumbent Shillong Lok Sabha MP Vincent Pala too had expressed similar sentiments and mentioned that it would be a multi-cornered contest and he felt that other parties were also strong enough.

Worth mentioning, political parties including the candidates are now busy with the calculations, looking into whether the ‘gameplan’ has actually worked or not, especially in terms of the Shillong LS seat.

Certainly a lot is at stake for the Congress since Vincent Pala has represented the seat thrice consecutively since 2009 and is definitely looking to retain the seat for the 4th time again.

NPP is for the first time contesting from the Shillong Lok Sabha seat.

The candidates who were in fray for the Shillong Lok Sabha seat were- Ampareen Lyngdoh of the National People’s Party (NPP), Vincent Pala (Congress) Ricky Andrew J Syngkon of Voice of the People Party (VPP), Robertjune Kharjahrin of the United Democratic Party (UDP) and two independent candidates — Lakhon Kma and Peter Shallam.
