Anant Ambani’s Vantara Wins India’s Highest Animal Welfare Honor, ‘Prani Mitra’ Award, in Corporate Category

Anant Ambani’s trust-Vantara has been honoured with the ‘Prani Mitra’ National Award, India’s highest recognition for animal welfare, under the Corporate category.

The Government of India conferred this prestigious accolade in appreciation of Vantara’s outstanding efforts in rescuing, rehabilitating, and caring for animals, particularly elephants.

The Radhe Krishna Temple Elephant Welfare Trust (RKTEWT), a key initiative under Vantara, played a significant role in earning this recognition.

The trust is committed to the rescue, medical care, and lifelong rehabilitation of elephants that have been subjected to cruelty, captivity, or exploitation.

The award was presented by the Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying at a ceremony held in New Delhi on Thursday.
Vantara’s Elephant Care Centre: A Safe Haven for Rescued Elephants
Vantara’s Elephant Care Centre is home to more than 240 rescued elephants, offering them a protected environment where they can recover and live freely. Among them are:
30 elephants rescued from circuses
Over 100 elephants freed from the logging industry
Others were previously used for street begging and tourist rides
The facility ensures these elephants are given the highest standard of care, allowing them to heal both physically and emotionally. Spanning 998 acres of forest, Vantara provides a natural, enriching habitat where elephants can roam, forage, and engage in their instinctive behaviors like bathing and socializing.

Cutting-Edge Veterinary Care:
Vantara is home to the world’s largest elephant hospital, which integrates modern medicine with alternative therapies to treat chronic conditions. The facility includes:
A hydrotherapy pond for arthritis relief
A hyperbaric oxygen chamber for accelerated wound healing
A specialized foot care unit with expert pedicurists
Treatments using Ayurveda and acupuncture to alleviate pain and stress
Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Vantara CEO Vivaan Karani emphasised the organization’s unwavering commitment to animal welfare.

We will continue striving to raise welfare standards, drive meaningful change, and preserve India’s rich biodiversity for future generations,” said Vantara CEO Vivaan Karani
With its state-of-the-art facilities and dedicated mission, Vantara stands as a beacon of hope and care for rescued elephants, setting a global benchmark in ethical wildlife rehabilitation.

Launched in February 2024 by Reliance Industries and Reliance Foundation, Vantara is a large-scale wildlife rescue, conservation, and rehabilitation initiative introduced by Anant Ambani. It is located within the Reliance Jamnagar Refinery Complex in Gujarat and spans 3,000 acres, making it the largest facility of its kind in the world.
