Amit Shah Reveals Life After Politics, And It’s Not What You’d Expect

Amit Shah also shared that he has been practising natural farming himself.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, one of the most influential political figures in the country after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has shared a surprising vision for his life beyond politics. Speaking at the ‘Sahkar Samvaad’ event in Ahmedabad, Shah said, “After I retire, I will dedicate the rest of my life to the Vedas, Upanishads, and natural farming.”
He strongly criticised the use of chemical fertilisers in modern agriculture, linking them to rising health issues like cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, and thyroid disorders. “Wheat grown with chemical fertilisers often leads to cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, and thyroid issues. We didn’t know much about this earlier. Eating food free from chemical fertilisers means you may not need any medicines,” he stated.
Amit Shah also shared that he has been practising natural farming himself and claimed that the yield on his farm has increased by 1.5 times. He spoke about the ecological benefits of organic farming, explaining how it helps retain rainwater and rebuild soil health. “When it rains heavily, water usually flows out of the farm. But with organic farming, not a single drop goes out, it seeps into the soil. That’s because natural farming allows catchways to form. Excessive use of fertilisers has destroyed those catchways,” Amit Shah said.
He added that earthworms, which produce natural fertilisers, have been wiped out by chemical farming, calling them “nature’s own factories of urea, DAP, and MPK.”Talking about his current role, Amit Shah said that while the Home Ministry is considered a powerful post, he feels a deeper connection to his role in the Cooperation Ministry.
“When I became the Home Minister of the country, everyone told me I had received a very important department. But the day I was appointed Cooperation Minister, I felt I had been given an even greater responsibility, one that serves the country’s farmers, the poor, villages, and animals,” he said.
A Political Strategist with Deep Roots
Amit Shah started his political journey in 1982 with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and joined its student wing, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), in 1983, following the advice of Narendra Modi, then an RSS pracharak. He joined the BJP in 1987 and rose quickly within the party’s youth wing, eventually managing L.K. Advani’s successful 1991 Gandhinagar Lok Sabha campaign.
In 1995, after the BJP formed its first government in Gujarat, Amit Shah and Modi worked to erode Congress’s influence in rural areas by bringing local grassroots leaders into the BJP. He He also played a significant role in sports administration, serving as president of the Gujarat State Chess Association and later heading the Gujarat Cricket Association after Modi moved to Delhi.
Throughout his journey, Amit Shah remained a key strategist and a trusted ally of Modi, helping shape the political narrative both in Gujarat and at the national level.
