Manipur: Democratic People's Front will contest 32 seats in the Assembly elections.

Even as Manipur continues to be under President’s Rule and peace and normalcy remains elusive, a new regional political party named Democratic People’s Front (DPF) was formally launched today in Imphal. The party has been launched with a clear objective — to safeguard the cultural, historical, and political identity of Manipur, while working towards the integrity, unity, and all-round development of the state.

Addressing the media during the launch, Dr. Rajiv Kumar Narengbam, President of the Democratic People’s Front, emphasized that the party is committed to bringing change by introducing new and capable leaders who are truly devoted to the welfare of Manipur and the nation. “We aim to provide a platform for fresh faces with vision and dedication, rather than repeating the same political players who have failed to deliver lasting solutions,” he said.

Dr. Narengbam added that DPF will not focus on competing with established national parties like the Indian National Congress or the Bharatiya Janata Party, asserting that while these parties may serve national interests in other states, they have not taken Manipur’s ongoing crisis seriously. “Our intention is not to fight against national parties, but to fill the void left by their neglect and build a people-centric alternative,” he stated.

The party is planning to contest in 32 constituencies in the upcoming state elections, with preparations already underway to field candidates who reflect the party’s values and commitment to the people. Manipur Assembly has 60 seats.
