Alaska Passenger Plane with 10 Onboard Goes Missing, Search Underway

First Published: 7th February, 2025 12:05 IST

However, search and rescue operations are being hindered by poor visibility and severe weather conditions in the region.

A passenger plane carrying ten people, including nine passengers and one pilot, has gone missing in Alaska, prompting an intensive search operation. The missing aircraft, a Bering Air Caravan, was flying from Unalakleet to Nome when it became untraceable.

The Alaska Department of Public Safety confirmed that State Troopers were alerted around 4 p.m. local time after the flight was reported overdue. Authorities are working to determine the aircraft’s last-known coordinates to locate the missing plane.

However, search and rescue operations are being hindered by poor visibility and severe weather conditions in the region. Crews are struggling to conduct aerial searches as hostile weather continues to pose challenges.

This marks the third aviation incident in the United States this year. Just last week, a small plane carrying six people crashed in Philadelphia, killing all occupants. Additionally, last month, a passenger aircraft collided with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter, resulting in at least 67 fatalities.

The rising number of aviation accidents in the country has sparked safety concerns among travelers, with many expressing fears about flight safety. The U.S. government has intensified investigations into recent air tragedies, with authorities closely monitoring the situation.
