Air India Becomes First Indian Airline to Offer Wi-Fi on Selective Domestic Flights

Air India has launched Wi-Fi internet connectivity on select domestic and international flights, becoming the first Indian airline to offer this feature. Passengers aboard Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9, and specific Airbus A321neo aircraft can now browse the web, check social media, work online, or chat with loved ones while flying.

In a release, Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer, said, “Connectivity is a vital part of modern travel. Whether for leisure or productivity, our passengers will enjoy this enhanced travel experience.”

The service supports multiple devices like smartphones, tablets, and laptops and is available above 10,000 feet. Initially offered free of charge, passengers can access it by selecting the ‘Air India Wi-Fi’ network, entering their PNR and last name on the Air India portal, and connecting seamlessly.

Wi-Fi connectivity is already available on international flights to destinations such as New York, London, Paris, and Singapore. The airline plans to extend this feature to more aircraft in its fleet.

Connectivity will depends on satellite signals, bandwidth usage, and government regulations.
