Aftermath of Cyclone Remal in Meghalaya: 4 feared dead in landslides at Nongpriang

The aftermath of Cyclone Remal continues to wreak havoc in Meghalaya. As many as 4 people are feared dead in fresh landslides triggered by ongoing rains in Nongpriang village.

Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and the Search & Rescue Team (SRT), in Shillong have been dispatched to Nongpriang village to search for the missing and assist those affected by the landslides.

The state Government is working closely with emergency services to support the impacted people, as efforts to assess and mitigate the damage continue.

Along with the rest of the Northeast, normal life was severly affected in Meghalaya following incessant heavy rainfall since Monday.

One person lost his life while 5 others were injured in multiple incidents of landslide in the state.

A total of 5,169 people have been affected due to the calamity.

The disaster has damaged 903 houses across 271 villages.
