“Act Now Before It’s Too Late”: MP Sanajaoba Calls for Tough Action on Militants & Urgent Completion of Jiribam-Imphal Railway

He highlighted the dire situation in Manipur, where people face extreme difficulties due to the state's reliance on NH.
Rajya Sabha MP Maharaja Sanajaoba Leishemba today urged the Central Government to take strong action against armed groups disrupting peace in Manipur and to expedite the completion of the Jiribam-Imphal Railway Line by 2025.
“Instead of doing Impeachment Policy and before it is too late, the Government of India, with an iron hand, should act upon these Foreign Narco – Terrorists or Separatists to restore Normalcy in the state as well as along the NHs and complete the Jiribam – Imphal Railway Line Project positively by 2025 or at the earliest,” the MP stated during his speech in the Rajya Sabha.
He highlighted the dire situation in Manipur, where people face extreme difficulties due to the state’s reliance on National Highways and air routes for connectivity. Frequent landslides, extortion, economic blockades, and armed threats have made road travel unsafe, while skyrocketing airfares have placed a financial burden on citizens.
“Nearly 20 lakh people from the valley are struggling to travel due to unsafe highways and unaffordable flight tickets. Meanwhile, prices of food grains and other essential commodities are reaching record highs,” he pointed out.
Despite efforts from the State and Central Governments, violence along the highways persists. “Many brave jawans have become martyrs while protecting civilians. These groups are waging war against the nation with foreign support,” he added.
The MP stressed that the completion of the Jiribam-Imphal Railway Line is the only long-term solution to Manipur’s connectivity crisis. “Railway is the only alternative to ease transportation issues and stabilise prices,” he said, urging the government to ensure its completion at the earliest.
