Along with the rest of the country, the second phase of COVID-19 vaccination was carried out in Arunachal Pradesh’s border town, Tawang on Monday.

A total of 193 people, including senior citizens of the border town were inoculated with COVID-19 vaccines at the Vaccination site in Khandro Drowa Tsangmo District Hospital.

Under the soft-launch programme, 14 senior citizens were given first dose of the vaccine.

Goleng Monpa was the first senior citizen to get the vaccine today, while another 84-year-old Tashi Tsering of Shyol village was the oldest to receive the vaccine. On the other hand, 179 others were administered the vaccine.

Meanwhile, BJP MP from Arunachal Pradesh Tapir Gao also took his first dose of Covid vaccine at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences today. Gao appealed to the general public to get vaccinated as early as possible.

Leading from the front, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received his first dose of the home-grown vaccine today morning at the AIIMS hospital in Delhi. PM Modi became the first beneficiary in the second phase of nationwide vaccination against the Coronavirus.

Streamlining the vaccination process, senior citizens can get vaccinated by registering themselves at designated vaccination sites by producing their Aadhar or voter ID cards.

Phase-2 of COVID-19 vaccination aims to cover 10 crore people across the country. People above 60 years of age and those above 45 years with co-morbidities will receive their first jab of the COVAXIN and COVISHIELD.
