8 Bangladeshi Infiltrators Arrested in Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills District

As per reports, two snakes were recovered from the two of the suspected Bangladeshis which are being handed over to Wildlife Officials.

As many as 8 Bangladeshi infiltrators have been apprehended by the Meghalaya police at Hallidayganj in the West Garo Hills district.

Among the arrested individuals, two have been identified as women.

The arrestees have been identified as Pappu Sheikh (27 yrs), Shri Alif Mal (39 yrs), Masirul Ojha (18yrs), Arif Sheikh (37 yrs), Maherul Khan (19yrs), Alif Mondol (35yrs), Dalia Ojha, Jhorina.

All suspected Bangladeshi nationals reportedly entered India illegally through Dalu and have stayed in Mitapukur, Bangladesh and Sabar, Habra, Bangladesh.

Earlier, 5 Bangladeshi nationals who had illegally crossed the Indo-Bangladesh border near Baghmara, South Garo Hills in Meghalaya were arrested in Meghalaya.

The State Police was conducting routine vehicle checking near KGBV School in Zikzak, West Garo Hills on the Assam-Meghalaya border.
